Getting to Stiebarlimbach was easy. Bus 265 from Forchheim ZOB at 20 mins. past the hour, cost 3.60 one way. Stops are announced. Leave the bus at the Siebarlimbach stop, opposite Roppelt's brewery. I walked through the brewery yard and turned left. After a couple of minutes I was drinking an excellent bier at Roppelt's keller. However, from Roppelt's keller it is not immediately clear how to get to the Kreuzberg kellers. There are no sign posts. I asked one local and he gave me directions to Hallendorf! Another just nodded enigmatically into the forest. I eventually discovered that you just follow the steep track up and into the forest. There are no stairs or paved path. It is quite physically demanding. Some guys were having problems pushing their bikes up the dirt track. Did I go the right way? When you get to the top, it is clear that there is a road on the other side of the hill. I found the beers to be very good, apart from the middle keller (Lieberth) which was a bit stale. But at 3 PM on a Friday afternoon, attendances were low and the atmosphere was pretty flat. Anyway, now I know how to get to Kreuzberg, I can plan to visit at a later hour in future. Mike |
