Hi, Carolyn, I don't know this appartment. But the location is very good (without a car). Bamberg is divided into three parts by the river Regnitz and the channel Main-Donau-Kanal. Your appartment is in the median part. - If You go southbound over the river Regnitz You will reach Klosterbräu, Schlenkerla and the oldest part of Bamberg (the traditional part of the church) with the Kaiserdom (dome) and many pubs and restaurants for Your night life. - The median part (with Your appartment) is named as "Bürgerstadt" (civilian city). There You find the University, the pedestrian area, coffee houses, shops. It's only 200 or 300 hundred meters to the "Austraße" with many nice shops (p.e. book shops) and pubs (Hofcafé, Café Müller et so on). - If You go over the Main-Donau-Kanal You will find a part of the city which is not so extreme old. The Köngistraße (king street) is a former route of commerce between Munich, Nuremberg and Berlin. At the end of the 19th century there exist 28 breweries. Now You will find there Spezial and Fässla, the railway station and following the street to Nuremberg the breweries Keesmann and Mahr. In the near of Your appartment You will find two pubs which I like: - The "Fischerei" ist a wine house, but there You get a "Mönchsambacher Hefeweißbier" and one of the best "Schnitzel" (from pig). The owner (Kurt Meier) and the waiters/waitresses are very nice and can give You further advice about the city. Without website. The "Pelikan" of Heiner Sauer (also very friendly) has a good Thai Food selection, good wines, but also a good selection of beer: - Huppendorfer Vollbier on tap - Guinness on tap - Jever Pilsner on tap and on bottle - Mönchsmbacher Hefeweißbier - Keesmann Herrenpils and others. http://www.pelikan-bamberg.de Gerhard |
