Help Please -- looking for hotel/brewery in Bamberg

That German-speaking thing can be a bit of an issue in Bamberg, but it's not hopeless. As touristy as the place can be, it's not Munich or Frankfurt, and English-speaking service staff aren't as common in Bamberg and the surrounding region as in the bigger well-touristed cities. The brewery guest-houses are rather old-fashioned, too, in that on-line booking isn't common at many of them, although some will respond to e-mail requests. The Altenburgblick (Greifenklau's hotel) provides a reservation link to hotel.de, which allows you to select English-language for your booking needs. Having stayed at the Fässla, I can assure you that it's not anything like an "Elk's Lodge." The rooms are plain but adequately comfortable, and the location is convenient for both the train station and the city center.
