| Was this a native or local couple (or from Zirndorf)? Yeah, people tell me I should try the Z Landbier all the time. Right. Their Kellerbier is new (last year?), and is surprisingly worse than the Landbier--which isn't undrinkable, but is also just very Einheitsbierisch. The Biergarten I was referring to above--Unicum in Erlangen--used to pretend that the Maisel Kellerbier was "their own", and would only reluctantly admit where it was actually from. They're very up-front about the new Kellerbier though, possibly because it's by and large a Tucher joint. Bad luck for me: The first full Biergarten season in our new neighborhood, with the Unicum Biergarten that we like so well 2 minutes' bike ride away, and there's no more decent beer there.
