Hi folks, thanks very much for your suggestions. I've actually already tried an on-line translation tool. This is what I sent to the Hotel: Kann ich machen Sie bitte eine Reservierung für zwei einzelne Zimmer? Ein einzelnes Zimmer für Eric James Ein einzelnes Zimmer für Joseph Sooy Kommen Sie: 8 September 2009 Gehen Sie: 11 September 2009 *Schicken Sie bitte Reservierung-Bestätigung dem per e-mail: eric.james@do.treas.gov Danke, Eric My German is certainly not perfect but I think that should have gotten the idea across, please tell me if it's unintelligible. I faxed that and then faxed that identical statement a 1/2 hour later with my fax number in place of my e-mail address just in case their fax was working but their internet access was down. I got two faxes back. One was gibberish and the other was just a carbon copy of what I had sent but with header information indicating it had been sent from the hotel's fax. It's all very strange and a little frustrating. This is the last hotel that I need to get confirmed. I've gotten confirmations from everywhere else we'll be staying.
