Why only interested in Bamberg beer? |

I think there are a number of factors: The fame of Schlenkerla makes the name known, there are a lot of breweries in one place (without having to drive) and a lot of breweries nearby reachable with public transportation. Also, once you visit it's such a pretty town you just want to go back :) Most Americans have somewhat limited time (can't spend a month or two) that for beer tourists, concentration of breweries is important. And nobody wants to be the driver, so you go by public transportation. But I will say to you folks, if Jürgen offers to take you around to the breweries in his area, take him up on his offer -- I had some very good beers when I did. BTW, I can't tell you how many people have said they have no desire to visit Bamberg because (having tasted a bottle of Schlenkerla) they don't like rauchbier. Their loss :) |
