I was thinking about maybe picking up a can of malt extract, or a German home brew kit, next time I visit Southern Germany. Also, there are lots of small working breweries in Franconia. Maybe they would let me have a bottle of yeast. And of course there are some famous hop growing areas in Southern Germany. Using UK home brew supplies, it's pretty easy to brew a drinkable light ale, bitter or stout. Ale yeasts work OK in the ambient temperatures in my house. But for German lagers, I may have to hack out a keller in the nearest hillside :) Mike |
