They new coalition gov't plans to change the law to allow smoking in one-room pubs under 75 square metres, in which only "cold or simple-to-prepare warm food" is served. E.g., places with only "a chip pan (deep fryer), microwave, or small cooking pot". Smoking will be allowed in seperate rooms in bigger, several-room Gaststätten. Minors will be forbidden in both cases. With the supposed future EU legislation--won't all EU countries have to vote to approve such a law? FWIW, we spent a few pleasant hours at Kraus in Hirschaid on Saturday after shopping at nearby Neubert. I think it was our first visit (inside) since the Rauchverbot came into affect. After about 9:00 or so, they started smoking at the Stammtisch. We left. |
