| So I've purchased our non-refundable plane tickets and we're arriving in Frankfurt on the 1st of Sept. For this trip my friend and I will be driving a rental car. My desire is to leave the airport and head NE to Klosterbrauerei Kreuzberg. Kreuzberg is apx. 70 driving miles away though so I was hoping someone could recommend a picturesque little town to stop at roughly half way there. Our preference is to visit the more historic/picturesque towns that may have a local brewery in or near the town and/or may also have a castle or other historic building near by. After a beer and lunch at Kreuzberg we'll be heading S to Wurzburg where we'll spend the night. Again, it's about 45 driving miles from Kreuzberg to Wurzburg so if someone could recommend a place to stop at in between (Bad Kissingen? Schweinfurt?) that would be great. Thanks in advance for any assistance. I cut and pasted what follows below from a previous post... Breweries being closed is really not a big issue for my friend and I. We're more concerned with having access to the beer itself. It's of course our preference to drink at and see the brewery when possible but as long as there's a gasthaus in town that'll provide access to the beer, despite the brewery itself being closed, we're content. I should mention that our primary objective while traveling in Germany is to try as many Weizens & Hefe-Weizens as we can. It's by far our favorite style. In addition to drinking wheat beer we also try to bring home a glass. We brought back a little over 30 glasses but broke several. Our second trip was in '08, we brought back over 50 glasses and only broke one!
