That's a good story. I had many similar experiences while serving. When in the Marine Corps I had occasion to do a 6 month "Med. Float" which is basically touring the Mediterranean sea for 6 months on a Navy ship. Amongst other places we spent a lot of time in Italy and France. The vast majority of guys on ship (like 8 out of 10) would go out of they're way to locate McDonald's & Pizza Hut to eat in rather than sample the local cuisine.
