Frühjahrsfeste in Franken

When you search along those lines, you'll find a list of events in Franken: http://www.franken-eventkalender.de/veranstaltungen/task,view_month/catids,111/year,2007/month,03/day,27/ which can lead you to fests in Würzburg, Nürnberg, Schwabach (near Nberg), and yes, even...wait for it...Bamberg. (Last year's, true, but it's better than {0}.) http://www.stadt.bamberg.de/pres.phtml?FID=332.4396.1&La=1&call=detail is Bamberg's webbie for their Frühjahrsplärrer, the name of which unfortunately does not mean what it could be directly translated as: Early Year Whinger/Blubberer/Boo-hooer. (In this case, Plärrer means a "free place" for a market from mediaeval German.) There's also a Bayreuther Frühlingsfest, with Bieranstich on Easter Saturday. At the beginning of May, there is the Walberlafest on the Walberla or Ehrenburg SE of Forchheim, as well as a Kreuzbergfest. The Walberla one is supposedly the oldest in the country, and is also supposedly packed with drunks. And pagan wannabes. And maybe real pagans too, I suppose. As to what Andy says above about the weather, look at the photo gallery for last year's Nberger Frühlingsfest: http://www.br-online.de/bayern/feste-und-feiern/fruehlingsfest-nuernberg-schnee-ID1206530778528.xml In my time here, Frühlingsfest(s) haven't stood out compared to Kerwa(s) and what-not. But then I'm pretty focused on the opening of Kellersaison...
