Zoigl and Kommunbräu

Zoigl houses in Windischeschenbach and neighboring Neuhaus have a rotating schedule, and the Oberpfälzer Hof hotel in Windischeschenbach is open most days and serves Zoigl too. Too see the schedule, go to http://www.zoiglbier.de/ and drill down to the "Kalender" links for either W'eschenbach or Neuhaus. You can ignore any mention of the Stern house in W'eschenbach, though; it's shut due to the owner's rather significant health problems. "Best in town" is another matter entirely. From the ones I've tried, Binner in W'eschenbach rates as a personal favorite, but since you only get certain houses at a given weekend, you don't necessarily get to pick what's "best," just what's open. FWIW, I also visited Bahler in Neuhaus recently; I wasn't that enamored with their beer. Seemed to have a trace of autolysis or something similarly funky/nasty going on. YMMV.
