Dunkles Bier--3 more

Dunkles Bauernbier ("farmerbeer") from Br. Held ("hero") in Oberailsfeld can be excellent, but varies a lot in the bottle; the last few times I've had it it's been a bit sour. Superb on tap though. In a similar vein, the famous Hohenschwärzer Dunkel from Hoffmann in Hohenschwärz is almost always sour and / or diacytel-laden in the bottle, but always a rewarding treat on tap at the Brauereigaststätte after a long, hard bike ride to get there. I don't bother with the bottles any more. But normally excellent is the dunkles Obaladara from Br. Ott in Oberleinleiter. It does seem to age prematurely (oxidation in bottling?), but when fresh is a malty, hoppy treat. I need to check out their Bockbier for the first time next spring...
