Zoigl and Kommunbräu - more info

I visited Binner when I was over in August, and Yes, (IMO) it is the best one, but as Herr Binner brews the stuff for nearly everyone else in Windi, that not surprising. I also managed to visted Schafferhof in Neuhaus bei W that afternoon and was very impressed. Superb surroundings (built into an old farmhouse and courtyard) for a beer on a hot August afternoon. The beer was again very good. I had seen from the calender of events for the Zoigl day, that a new name had appeared but was not able get any other info, so that helps to see that they will be open next year. The new Zoigl brewers at Neuhaus (Pegnitz) also were worth a visit. I thought the beer was very good and was worth the effort of going to. As it was 'sort of' en-route from Windi back to Nurnberg, it seemed rude not to pop in. The pubs selling the beer are no more than 10 minutes from the station and are clustered around the Stadthaus, so quite easy to find, once the 'star' has been located. I drank in Reindl at Unterer Markt 3, my only complaint were that the flys were incessant. It's the only bar I've been to, where patrons brought their own fly swats! I don't think I would eat here! The beer? Well I made an exception as it new! Other bars are at Benaburger Unterermarkt 17 (although I couldn't find this but there was a start hanging outside 13 but it was still shut at 16:00), and at Doth at Burgstrasse 4. The Old Kommunbrauhaus was closed some years ago, but I believe the 3 brewers are now using the old Falkenloch brauhaus on the Markt. I'm sure more brewers will join in again as the operation takes off. Cheers, Mat W
