Less smoke?

I had the same impression when I had a Spezial at the brewery in April. I found it considerably less smoky than I expected/recalled. I almost had a bottle at the Von Rothenburg Bier Stube in Germantown WI last weekend but opted for a Mahrs Ungespundet instead, but I have a bottle or two of Spezial in the fridge so I can check those out, maybe find a more recent bottle to compare them to. -Joel.
