It seems unlikely that it will be sold to InBev since it is already owned by Brau Holding International (they own 63.5 %). BHI is owned 50/50 by the Munich-based Schoerghuber Group and Heineken(perhaps everyone knows that). Anyway, BHI or InBev, what's the difference? Today's local paper reports on how BHI just replaced two of three members of the brewery's executive committe with their own people. The committe now consists of three "equal" members. Really, whoever owns Kulmbach, there will probably always be a beer with Kulmbach on the label. Has something been lost? Sure. We can only hope that the many small breweries around here that produce really great beer will be able to survive the very hard economic conditions they are facing. Otherwise we will all be drinking BHIbraeu or InBev Braeu. |
