What's with the hop prices?

Over demand and undersupply. Growers in the US have been steadily removing acreage. Was such a situation forseeable. Some seem to think so. The industry has responded by planting 8000 acres but they won't produce for 2-3 years. The weak dollar created a sell off by certain suppliers wanting the Euro but it has caused a huge gap. A notable Macro brewery bought heavy into Cascade which caused some panic buying and all of it caused prices to skyrocket. Prices will settle but still 300% higer than what was considered normal.
