Sundays are indeed busier at the Keller(s). Can be great fun, yes, but you may have to stand in line to get your Masskrug...at any rate, Lieberth's new megaGaststätte up at their Kreuzberg Keller should be running by now. There is also the possibility of using what's called the Anrufsammeltaxi (AST) service from the Nürnberger mass transit. I've yet to use it myself, nor even investigate in person to determine exactly how it works and what it costs, but the gist is, you can call a taxi to pick you up at a bus stop at a determined time outside the scheduled bus times, to take you to another bus stop or train station. Ah, here's information: http://www.vgn.de/komfortauskunft/ast/ I was wrong, it will deliver you not just to another bus/train stop, but to any destination you choose, assumedly within predefined zones. And looking at the map for the Forchheim region: http://www.vgn.de/media/static/forchheim.pdf "To figure out the fares: - Within a community (bordered by the pink lines), fare K applies. - Between two bordering communities, fare 2 applies (same goes for zone changes). - For trips between more than 2 communities within a zone, fare 3 applies. - For each additional zone change, an additional fare level will be applied to fare 2." Zone Prices: http://www.vgn.de/produkte/preistabellen/gesamtraum_bartarif This suggests that one could conceivably arrange for an AST taxi to pick up at Hallerndorf or Willersdorf (I think about 15-20 minutes by foot from Stiebarlimbach or Kreuzberg, respectively--it takes me about 5 minutes by bike) and drop off at Eggolsheim Bf for fare level 2, a whopping 1.90€ per person. (Really?!?) If, in fact, the AST will pick you up at *any* bus stop, not just those marked with red dots here, then you could get picked up in Stiebarlimbach, a 5 minute stroll from Roppelt's Keller, or perhaps 15 minutes from the Kreuzberger Keller(s). That does it, I must find out more about this--it seems too good to be true. I think there's a similar service from OVF.
