The terms are hazy, so may be the beers. Or not? Kellerbier: originally the beer that was dispensed/sold in/on top of the Keller. Now more a generic beer style. Zwickelbier: bier dispensed straight from the lager vessel, from the Zwickelhahn (I stand here to my my own definition). Landbier: the "ordinary" session beer, brewed by the breweries in the country/in the villages (not in the towns). Not a protected "Designated geographic origin", usually a not too hoppy lager, color varies from straw-yellow to (dark) amber. Vollbier: any beer that is on the correct gravity band (11-15,9 Plato, in the past 11-14 Plato) - pretty well defined I'd say. |
