Fred, you are absolutely right. And I feel there is no need to recapitulate any pro or contra. :) My commentary, which you are referring to (or so it seems), was not meant to argue or to quarrel. It was a marginal note to Mark's comparision of Germany versus Ireland and the UK. Not more, not less. :) I found it interesting to hear that so many people in Bavaria make a strong connection between smoking and *pub culture*. And to me, pub culture could be a legitimate topic of a regular beer discussion. Your mileage may vary. :) Best wishes Gerd
