| We read in the (Erlangen) paper yesterday that there are *no* exceptions for seperate smoking rooms in the Bavarian Rauchverbot. Shall have to get up to Bamberg and see if they've made any of the rooms at Schl'la or Mahrs into Raucherräume. And of course, letters to the editor are predicting the complete demise of the phenomenon of the corner pub, citing the "fact" that 30% of Ireland's pubs have closed (!) since the smoking ban was enacted there. I imagine that this statistic was misinterpreted: pubs close all the time. And new ones open. Has there really been 30% turnover in Irish pubs in the last couple or 3 years? |
