| Thanks for the updates. I contacted German rail. They basically said any train at any time could be cancelled. I'm planning to be on trains 6 out of 8 days in Germany so it could get annoying. The railpass gives me unlimited travel on 6 days. So I can take any train besides Thalys which requires a supplement. Anyway, with the dollar plummeting, I don't want to be stuck renting a car to get to a major destination. But I can wait until the last minute to decide to go west rather than east. The rail pass is Germany and Benelux and there are parts of the Netherlands I haven't explored. But I am rather set on 4 days in Franconia and then Mainz, Worms/Speyer and Freiburg.... By the way, I'm faculty at a University and I'm in a union so I'm trying to be sympathetic! :-) Mike |
