Any visit to Salzburg wouldn't be complete without a visit to Augustiner. And while I'm not usually a big wheat beer fan, two brewpubs in town, Die Weisse and S'Kloane Brauhaus make very nice ones. There also are some nice brewpubs in the surrounding area. We had a nice time at Isi-Bräu in Bergheim (head towards the slaughterhouse, not the town, when you leave the train) and Allerberger-Bräu in Siezenheim (took a city bus). JosB is much more versed in Austrian beers. I hope to be better educated after the Bier IG fest in Salzburg next month.
