The ferry was at Pettstatt. We were riding down the west side of the canal and need to get to the east to get to Hirschaid. We followed a sign that said "Hirschaid" and ended up at the ferry. It costs a Euro per person w/ bike (50 cents for pedestrian). The ride down either side of the Canal (Regnitz Talroute or Regnitz Kanalroute) is nice. Its fairly flat and lots of places to stop for beer :) The other two we liked were Bischberg/Viereth/Weiher/Unterhaid/Staffelberg/Stettfeld and Kemmern/Breitengüssbach/Höfen/Freudeneck but really any of the bike paths out of Bamberg are nice. We tended to follow train lines on the longer routes so if weather got bad we or got tired we could take the train back to Bamberg.
