| Ha, yes, as we learned the hard way Monday! I biked from home to Forchheim about 12.00, spent a fine day with Jez and AndyH (Jimbo never arrived), and as we eventually made our way down to the Bahnhof to head to Bamberg at about 19.30, we learned that traffic south to / from Erlangen was shut down--except of course ICE and freight lines. Jez and Andy had to wait for an RB from Bamberg in order to get back to Bamberg; I decided just to bike home instead of taking a bus. Started to rain as I was at Bubenreuth, so I figured I'd catch the RB from Bubenreuth to Erlangen, assuming that the trouble causing the closure was north at Baiersdorf. Nope, no trains running, and the replacement buses were not stopping at all between Forchheim and Erlangen. So it was a lovely, muddy, wet, fun ride home for me. All the Festbier helped though! Speaking of which, Greif seem to have solved whatever horrible DMS problem they had with last year's Festbier--it was quite nice and clean yesterday anyway. I believe my favorites were the Buttenheimers. Anyway, the wetter.com forecast for Monday datnig from about Saturday held absolutely true: sunny and nice during the day, with 90% chance of rain in the evening. |
