I just checked the calendar for the first time in a while and see that Andy H is already here, and that others shall descend upon Franken in the coming days. I've been busier than expected of late, and shall continue to be somewhat, so I don't think I'll be at Annafest "alla Doch" (every day), but will certainly be around and game for meeting up here and there. Browsing diebahn.de for information about bike rental in Bamberg--about which I've found gar nichts (zilch)--revealed a clickable map of Bayern with links to .pdf files of the schedules for the various train lines. http://www.bahn.de/p/view/planen/reiseplanung/pendler/bay_kursb_karte.shtml is the main map site. From there, clicking on Bamberg leads to http://www.bahn.de/p/view/planen/reiseplanung/kursbuch/bay_kursb_bamberg.shtml which lists 3 schedules of note. When you open them, note that RB trains stop at every station, and are generally the oldest, crappiest trains which are a bitch to load bikes into/out of. RE are usually slick new trains, and the ones listed in red (IC, ICE, etc.) are ones in which your Bayern, Schönes Wochenende, and Tageskarte tickets are NOT valid. Sorry if this isn't new--I've never stumbled across it before.
