Interesting comment from a German friend ...

There are some little old fränkische breweries that don't brew what I would call a quality product though--some just appear to have procedural problems. A couple that I would mention, however, are *raved* about right here on this website. I'm curious to try the Neder and Greif Annafestbiere again this year, hopefully they will have solved last year's DMS and diacetyl problems.
