My Gecko 201 does have connectivity, but is also an "old-school" GPS: no maps included such as with navi systems people use in autos. You connect via a COM port, and my Bavaria Landkarte software has an interface to up- and download routes, paths, and waypoints. I haven't used Garmin's own program, other than to update its software online. http://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=144&pID=220 Eh, it seems like it should be a bit better than it is, for the 140 I spent in a sporting shop--probably could've paid less online. But it does work well enough. I forgot to add that the big "step forward" in GPS technology in the last 7 years--based on my two GPSs--seems to be the inclusion of some sort of gaming program(s?) to use whilst wandering around the countryside trying to find specific waypoints or something. I have no idea how it works, of course, since I'm fairly straight-forward and goal-oriented when I use my GPS: get to the damned Keller! ;) |
