First time to Bamberg

Mark, If you only have 3 days for your first visit to Bamberg, I would give the Kulmbach fest a miss. A newbie can easily spend 3 days in Bamberg and environs just on beer-related stuff: visiting the different breweries in Bamberg and the kellers up on the hill; visiting Cafe Abseits and other great bars in Bamberg; a day trip out to one of the surrounding villages; a day trip out to Forcheim or Buttenheim.
