Kulmbach & Bamberg, Questions...

"2 days/nights in Munich for some quality beer garten time" People tell me I'm biased, but for quality beer drinking outside Bamberg and area have it over Munich big time. If you have no slack , cut a day of Munich and spend it in Bamberg. Last year a friend was making a similar trip (started in Switzerland as well) and was going to spend 4 nights in Munich before going on somewhere non-beery. I said, "please, please, please go to Bamberg instead." He finally said he'd split the time, 2 days in each. "Everybody knows Munich is the beer capital of the world" was his reason. Well, after two nights (stayed at Spezial) he called me to tell me he was sorry he wasted time in Munich :) There are good reasons to visit Munich -- museums, culture, history, etc. but if the reason is beer, get thee to Bamberg. (OK, I will give Munich Andechs...)
