If you go to the Great British Beer Festival they will have a bunch of kegged beers at the Foreign Beer Bar. Since CAMRA will not allow CO2 in the building, these beers are dispensed with compressed air. Not only does it cause problems in dispensing it changes the beer as well. To me this is wrong: you should serve the beer as the brewer intended or not serve it at all. To dispense a kegged German or Czech beer with compressed air is as bad as dispensing cask beer with CO2. Worse probably -- they are doing it intentionally, not out of ignorance. If they restricted their German and Czech beers to those that were gravity fed I'd have no problem. |
