OT: Berlin beer fest: Franconian representatives |

Slightly off topic... I am thinking of visiting the Berlin beer fest this year (early August). It looks like a big fest! Lots of beers avilable from Germany, Czech and many other countries. But on looking at the fest web site, Franconia seems to be under-represented. It seems the only Franconian beer on show is Schlenkerla. Even so, that may just be in bottles... I expected more representatives from an area famous for its breweries. Is this due to a parochial attitude, or that the beer is best when fresh and doesn't travel well, or is it just that the Berlin fest is too corporate for the smaller breweries? Mike |
