| Not really beer related, but I wanted to point something out. I had read in the paper a while back, that the new, true high-speed ICE line between Nürnberg and München would--the introduction of which reduced the fastest ICE travel time from about 120 to 79 minutes--would become "fully bound into" the national network (whatever that means) on December 10, which would further shorten the fastest trip down to an amazingly quick 62 minutes. (!) Seemed too good to be true. But, it is true. Check for yourself with www.diebahn.de, and compare ICE travel times between N-berg and München on the 9th and 10th of December. Even better for many here: The Regional Express (RE) connections show an *hour's* reduction--from 2:41 down to 1:42. Nice for the Bayern Ticket. Okay, ObBeer: We spent two nights in München a few weeks back, on either side of a trip to Bozen/Bolzano, just to break things up. Found myself missing Franconian beer, even at Andechs. Heck, I like the beer in Bozen better than most of what's in München (Br. Forst, near Bozen, IIRC). And the prices! Okay, another ObBeer: Anyone going to the Kerstbierfest in Essen (Belgium) next month? |
