| The whole picturesque region "Fränkische Schweiz" (Franconian "Switzerland")is worth a visit.... Even though some breweries were closed in the last 20 years (e.g. Muggendorf, Wagner Pottenstein ...) there are still fine examples of franconian (brew-)culture to find. Pottenstein was a paradise with three operating breweries, but still the surviving two are worth a detour ! ' Don't forget,if You are in the region, to take a look at Waischenfeld ( with a very small and a bit "odd" brewpub), Nankendorf, Oberailsfeld and Breitenlesau...... Sorry Edo, but in Pottenstein I'd prefer the more traditional Mager (very good Dunkles !); the Hufeisen has a long tradition, but was unfortunately converted in the recent years into a "modern" german Hausbrauerei........... |
