Zum Einhorns-Keller, Bamberg |

On my recent visit to Bamberg, I went to this place, after being alerted to it; it was shut at the time that I passed it. It is near Torschuster. If one goes through the gate (Tor) alongside Torschuster, carrying on straight, the street name changes to Jakobsberg, and on the next corner reached, on the right (Storchsgasse), is this place, at Jakobsberg 8 (tel 0951 519 17 27). Consulting Christian Fiedler's book, one soon discovers that it is on the site of the Keller for the Brauerei Einhorn, which was on Obere Sandstrasse 24 until 1961. The brewery dates from after 1366; the Einhorns-Keller dates from 1489, as is declared above the obvious, former Keller entrance. Googling tells one that it is open every day from 6pm until 1am (2am on Saturdays). From the outside it looks very promising, from an atmosphere point of view. Does anyone have any info on it, particularly what beers it has on draught and in bottle? The following has a photo of someone having a beer in/outside the place, but I can't recognise the beer from the glass or beer mat (coaster): http://www.bamberg-guide.de/geniessen/location.php?loc=118 |
