| I have a few suggestions. 1. Instead of backtracking from Appendorf to Baunach, you could walk through the woods to Oberhaid, where the latest trains depart for Bamberg at 22.54 and 23.59. My mapping software shows that this route is only about 0.25 km longer, although the first 800 m is somewhat steep; about 40 m elevation gain. I have biked from Baunach-Appendorf-Oberhaid; it took me 15 minutes from Appendorf-Oberhaid Bahnhof. However--my one visit to Br. Wagner in Oberhaid was not at all impressive. If you MUST wait for the train there, the beer won't kill you, but it also won't be the day's best. 2. Dörfleins-Wagner Keller-Appendorf-Baunach. You can walk along the Main Weg trail for a part of the stretch over the Kreuzberg, or level and straight along another trail to the Wagner Keller. http://www.wagner-keller-kemmern.de/home.html If the weather's nice, the Keller opens Fridays at 15.30. From there, either through the woods overhill to Appendorf, or along the Main to Baunach. Here's a map of both routes: http://tinyurl.com/ns9xf 3. Highly recommendable is a stroll in the region west of Eggolsheim. Begin at Roppelt's Keller in Stiebarlimbach, then a half km up to the three Keller on top of the Kreuzberg, then down to Schlammersdorf and on to Neuses (Eggolsheim Bahnhof), about 9km total. You could begin this stroll in Forchheim, but it's 12 km from there through the woods to Stiebarlimbach. You could begin with bus 265 (weekdays--stops at Eggolsheim Bahnhof) at a point along the bus route to shorten the walk.
