A Superb First Trip |

| I'm back from my first ever week in Franconia! It was a truly wonderful time, and I hope to repeat it soon enough. A full report should come soon, but here are the highlights for now: Top 10 beers: -Löwenbräu (Buttenheim) Ungespundetes Lagerbier -Griess Kellerbier -Wilde Rose Kellerbier -Schlenkerla Märzen -Rittmayer Raiterla Rauchbier -Rittmayer Landbier -Spezial Ungespundetes -Klosterbräu Maibock Hell -Spezial Rauchbier Lager -Friedel Schwärzer Doppelbock and a host of others worthy of praise as well! We stayed at Ferienwohnung Alexandra, at Judenstrasse 11, right near Klosterbräu. For 38 euros a night, with kitchenette, 2 free (yet olden) bikes, quiet inner garden, perfectly cozy, clean, and quiet, in the altstadt, this is a steal. I'd go back there anytime. I'm already dreaming about the next visit... Thanks to NickB for meeting us and sharing his knowledge of the region and language! And thanks to Fred for this wonderful website without which we would have missed so many charming places, AND wonderful lagers! |
