Report of a Beer Tourist's First Visit to Bamberg

Fred - yep, I've got something resembling a plan going on. Arrive BRU 14.October, overnight there, then to CGN or DUS. Will def be in DUS for Sticke at ZU on 17.October. Leave 18.October for Bamberg; haven't decided whether to use Air Berlin or similar, or to take the train. Bamberg or nearby becomes homebase for a week. Back to D'dorf on 25. October - guess what "am letzten Mittwoch im Oktober" means at Zum Schlüssel? Yep, Stike Alt, and the last Wednesday in October just happens to fall on the 25th. I'll probably have a rental car while in Bamberg or nearby. If I know that some others might be interested in a little country touring and could kick in for said car, that might influence the choice; rather than, say, a Smart, I might consider the likes of an Opel Zefira or a VW Scharan. After that, Belgium. Won't come home 'til 3.November. I'll probably pick up a rental car at BRU - again, if others are around, the choice of a small van might be arranged - and there will be some gastronomic beer touring: Denderleeuw, Beersel, Blaugies, Poperinge (Guess what festival is on 28.October. Go ahead. Guess), Ecaussines-Lalaing, meet up with Joris Pattyn if he'll put up with us, etc... Well, you asked. Do you dare? -- dgs
