Bus trips for a day out

The Regional Express trains, which don't stop at every single stop (as opposed to the Regional Bahn trains, which do...) have been modernized in the last year. The new ones are a shade nicer, and even better, travel at 160 kph instead of 140. This shaves a couple of minutes off a trip to, say, Hirschaid. I've walked from the Ebelsbach/Eltmann station NW of Bamberg to the homey little brewery in Stettfeld--it's an easy, flat 4.5 km or so. Or you could walk in the other direction and hit two breweries in what appears to be less than 4 km (in Eltmann and Eschenbach). I believe there's a bus from Eschenbach back to Bamberg (or at least back to Ebelsbach station) if you're not up for a 4km return walk.
