| I've stumbled (literally :) ) across a couple of places worth mentioning if you have time in Bamberg. Blue Bar, Obere Sandstrasse 18. This is upstairs from Stilbruch. They have Faessla Pils served from the barrel. If you noticed, Faessla has two "Magic Barrels" -- they never run out of beer. The beer is served from tanks in the basement via CO2. The Blues Bar has it gravity fed (Bayrischer Anstich, but I doubt they call it that in Dusseldorf or Cologne :) ) It is not by any means a traditional Franconia Gasthaus, but there is no cover charge and the music wasn't bad. Just take my advice and stay away from the Irish Whisky :) Hotel Alt Ringlein, Dominikanerstraße 9. This hotel is directly across the street from Schlenkerla. They've served Schlenkerla on draft for years, but they recently added Spezial so you can drink both Bamberger Rauchbiere side by side. (I ate there once a long time ago and the food was good). |
