Joelle, When in D-dorf I usually stay at the Hotel Haus Rheinblick (http://www.hotel-haus-rheinblick.de ) which is in the altstadt half way between Uerige and Füchschen :) Rooms are nice, but small. You get a key to the front door (i.e. come and go as you please). I usually send a fax to Frau Kirchhoff and she replies back the next day. Rates are around Euro 80/double with breakfast and private bath & shower. Noise can be a problem on warm, weekend nights (i.e. you have to have the window open) but is otherwise no worse than any other altstadt hotel. I've also stayed at the CVJM (YMCA) hotel by the train station (http://www.cvjm-duesseldorf.de ) -- which has a regular hotel that is nice. I've also stayed at the newer Ibis Zentrum that is a block from the train station -- a little cheaper and quieter than the one directly at the station. Munich is a bit tough as a beer-day-trip from Bamberg. Its 2 to 2.5 hours each way so that makes for a long day. I'm like Jos, I'd stay in Bamberg but I'm just as biased :) |
