Yes. "Fest" is maybe the wrong word to use. To most American beer geeks it implies many different beers from multiple breweries. What Scott is talking about is the "Bockbieranstich" or "The tapping of the bock beer." It is the first day the bock beer is served and is usually a big party at the brewery. The tradition in Bamberg is it is a Thursday night and Schlenkerla is always first and Greifenklau always last. The order in between is also set, but I know know it off the top of my head. There are some variations, for example at Spezial Keller the Bockbieranstich is the Friday of that of Brauerei Spezial. |
