| In one day, we visited Spezial, Fässla, Keesman, Mahr's, Amrbäusianum, Klosterbräu, and Greifenklau. We didn't get to Kaiserdom's hotel & restaurant, and Schlenkerla was closed (it was a Tuesday). A determined beer tourist probably could have hit all of them in the same day, but it would be one intrepid day's worth of beery touring, and that still would leave out a visit to some of the Kellers, Cafe Abseits, and perhaps a visit to Weyermann. And we just scratched the surface of brewery guest-houses in Bamberg's Landkreis, including visiting some I'd never been to; we stayed at Wagner in Melkendorf, and enjoyed ourselves immensely in Geisfeld. But your point is well-taken. It's what makes Franconia so great! -- dgs |
