Antique? Not really, but certainly a treasured book as it records dates and details of when I have visited the different breweries (or, in the rare cases where a Brauerei Gaststätte wasn't listed, where the beer was tested). It is nice to see that several new breweries have started since the publication of this first book. Also, there are a large number of Hausbrauer, especially in the Frankenwald and towards the Oberpfalz that were never included. In fact, just last weekend I was in Bayreuth (probably my favourite place for beer in Franken) and enjoyed an unfiltered beer at a Beckn'Bräu (i.e. bake and brew) called Conny's, run by the baker family Lang (Jean-Paul-Strasse Bayreuth). They are open just four times a year in the back-yard of the bakery (as well as in the kitchen and stairwell). It is very difficult to get a seat as it is extremely popular there. Also of interest from here is a limited edition, hand-printed beer mat which is different each year.
