Welcome Brian! I'll have to pick up that copy of Brew Your Own. Tucher is in Nürnberg, which is in Franconia. As I learn more about the styles I'd almost say Tucher is more "Bavarian" rather than "Franconian." It doesn't help that their labels are blue and white (the colors of Bavaria) while the colors of Franconia are red and white. Marktoberdorf is in Swabia, which is in the southwestern corner of Bavaria. The Rauchenfels Steinbier used to be brewed in Franconia (Neustadt bei Coburg). I am not sure when that brewery closed, I'll try and find out, but since it is not in the 1996 Edition of the Fränkische Brauereikarte I'd have to assume it was before then.
