You are right, of course, life has to continue but life changes all the time and you have to adapt sensibly to the changes.
I don't think that I'm a particularly fearful person, really quite the opposite, most of my contemporaries wouldn't dream of doing most of the things that I do or have done.  However, I've always been a risk taker but with a certain degree of calculation but, I have to say, trying vainfully to think back decades, I look at life a little different four decades on from my thirties.  Thus, my desire to visit far flung (well, not so far, really) places will be balanced against the level of risk (I don't have to tell anyone about the relative dangers of Covid 19 to the 70+ age group again the younger age groups, not to mention any underlying health issues that are almost inevitable as the body ages) and, of course, the degree of enjoyment to be gained.  It's a fine balance but one that must be consdered - that is, if you want to continue life as we know it.
Not to mention, of course, not being selfish and being a cause of infaction spreading.
