Gänstaller Shop in Bamberg

So you're saying that if I go into the shop I will pay significantly less?

Even if you compare with Schlenkerla, it's still 80 cents more per unit (if you take into account the can vs bottle).

I'm not personally bothered by the prices, I often go to the Bierothek and pay way over the odds for craft beer. But these are things I cannot get here, both from breweries and in styles not available here. Therefore, there is a justification for the prices. Incidentily I would never buy Franconian beers from Bierothek for 2EUR or more per bottle.

So what's justifying the prices here? Pils and Weizen in Bavaria. Fancy cans? Calling it "Braumanufaktum"? Fancy marketing? Andy is a good brewer, but there are many of them here, and they aren't selling their beers for such prices (even in their pubs in some cases!? e.g. Eichhorn 5EUR per litre on draft in the pub vs Gaenstaller 4,94EUR from a can to takeaway).

I do have a chip on my shoulder from my time in the UK where keg 'craft' started appearing in pubs for 30% more than cask beer even in the case of the beer being the same. And it's gradually creeping in here.

IF the prices in the shop are significantly less, then I take it back. What he charges to people from outside Franken is purely what people are willing to pay, so he'll see if they are priced right.
