There IS a beer fest in Erlangen on Sunday.

|I think the over-pricing of basic "craft beer" in the market here is at least partly due to supply and demand. He charges the prices that people will pay. Eventually, more supply will help, whether it's more such beer brewed here, more imported from the US, or both. It's trendy. |
Anyway. In my 39 years in the US, I'd never been to a beer fest with a high entrance fee and then all-you-can-drink 1 oz samples. They were always half- or quarter-pint sizes (US pint, mind you). Then again, I'd never been to a beer fest outside of Oregon, save the Chicago Real Ale Fest. The 1 oz style of fest are modeled after the GABF, I think. I'd certainly never set foot there.
Oh, I forgot...if I *do* end up going to this thing in ER today, I'll take along a proper glass. They can serve me using their stupid TeKu glasses, but I'll just decant from that into my own Glaskrug.
