OT: Half marathons in Franconia

When we were staying in Forchheim last year (2012), a marathon or half-marathon took place.  I remember it well because we were staying a mile or two out of town and due to meet Juergen for a trip to Schweiz Franken.  After standing at the bus stop for some time, wondering why there was no traffic and a lot of people running and/or cycling past, a car stopped and gave us the news!  He offered also to run us to the station (our meeting point) and was very concerned when our contact didn't turn up.  Juergen was actually only a couple of minutes behind schedule (he was working on Irish time), so everything worked out well.  I can't tell you the exact date but it was some in September and coincided with the Fire Brigade's annual festival in Ebermannstadt - I know that because we couldn't get into the town and had to take a big diversion (we were heading for Pottenstein - first!).
