Excessive Carbonation

At Uerige in Düsseldorf they get around the "left over beer" problem by having barrels in many sizes. When they open at 10am they may put a 5L barrel on and then larger ones as demand grows. Of course, they really only serve the one beer so that makes it easier.

It must be an American thing as Mark said, because I don't find most Franconian beers to be to gassy. Once in a while maybe, but for the most part not. Some beers taste better from the barrel while for most (to me) it doesn't matter much. Beer does oxidize and the glass from the end of a slow moving barrel can suffer.
